San Francisco El Alto Market Experience
About the Tour
A representative of Tours Atitlan will meet you at your hotel lobby, from there we will drive to the town of San Francisco El Alto.
On a clear day has a great view of Quetzaltenango which sits below in the valley, When you arrive to this market you will be able to see the 18th century church, which is right in the middle of the local market, this place is also known for the production of cloth and clothing. Every Friday is market day and every corner of this market is taken over by vendors and their goods. What makes this market unique and different from others is that it has the biggest animal market in Guatemala where you can find all kinds of farm animals like: cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, roosters, geese, puppies, and kittens! All of these located on a flat right at the top of the hill.
After visiting this market we will drive for an hour to our next destination, Fuentes Georginas. This place located in the town of Zunil, Fuentes Georginas has 7 pools with different temperatures of water going from really hot to warm enough. The pools are mineral rich and sport a strangely lime-like sour taste. They’re very skin softening, and many visitors claim that the water can cure all sorts of unnamed general ails. After visiting this place we will head back to your hotel.
