Tikal Adventure Tour
- 8:00am tour starts in Flores, our guide/driver will meet you at any hotel near Flores or Tikal.
- If you are traveling from Antigua Guatemala, our driver will meet you at 3:30am and travel to the airport. (Flight departs at 7:00am)
- If you are in Guatemala City our Driver will meet you at 5:30am (Flight departs at 7:00am)
Our Voltan Adventure guide will meet you at the hotel lobby, from here you will go on an adventure to explore this beautiful Guatemalan site! Tikal is the largest excavated site in the American continent and contains some of the most fascinating archaeological remains of the ancient Maya civilization. It is Guatemala’s most famous cultural and natural preserve and was declared a national park in 1955 and a World Heritage site by Unesco in 1979. Tikal covers 576 square kilometers or 222.4 square miles of lush jungle surrounding this beautiful lost city. After we visit this site you will be dropped off at your hotel, or at the airport.

For this trip we recommend to bring, sun protection, mosquito repellent, and rain gear. All the Tikal region is know as a rain forest and it can rain at any time. We also recommend if you were extending your trip to Belize or other southern countries to take anti malaria vaccination.

The ride from Panajachel to Chichi... read more took almost 2 hours but was extremely comfortable and smooth. Ricardo is an excellent driver and the SUV looked brand new and super clean.
The market is quite large and it was so much easier navigating through it with Isaias instead of trying to do so on our own. As we approached the center of the town, Isaias noticed that a Mayan procession was getting underway and we were able to follow it to the church where the Mayan brotherhood made their offerings. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we would have never found this on our own.
Isaias is extremely knowledgeable about the ancient and modern Mayan culture. It is apparent that he loves Guatemala, its nature, animals, and people. Both Isaias and Ricardo were fun to be with and we will definitely ask for both of them again on our next visit to Guatemala.
We also went with Isaias to several towns on Lake Atitlan. Rene, the captain of the boat did a great job and they were both very patient and helpful while we took our time shopping at the many art galleries, textile co-operatives, ceramic workshops, and other stores.
My mom and I only had a few hours in Guatemala City before our return back to the US. We knew that it wouldn’t be enough time to thoroughly visit the city but we wanted to get an overall feel for it. Well, we did! Our guide Vinicio and driver Josue made our short time in Guatemala City unforgettable. They both have really fun personalities and we got a great overview and history of the city while having a great time. Vinicio is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide that was able to answer all of the questions we had. We were so fortunate that Josue stopped on the side of the road just before we got to the airport so that we could see the active volcano erupt.

I was met by a fabulous young Mayan nature guide, who not only knew animals and plants, but also showed and explained to me many beautiful cultural aspects of Mayan culture. Through him I met many local people and could visit remote villages and sampled much tasty local food. It was by necessity somewhat of a whirlwind trip. I was impressed by the flexibility by which the itinerary could be adjusted. I traveled in South America dozens of times over a 50-year period; this trip was among the most enjoyable and satisfying.

- How long will the flight last from Guatemala City to Flores Peten? 45 minutes
- Can I book this tour departing and returning to Antigua Guatemala? Yes, you can book this tour from and to Antigua Guatemala. You must depart from Antigua at 4:30am.
- How long will the tour last in Tikal? Usually this tour takes between 3 to 4hrs. It will depend on the group size and so our guides are flexible with timing for your enjoy.
- Is the car ride from Belize to Tikal direct? No. Usually our transport provider in Belize will drive you all way to the Guatemalan border, place where our Guatemalan guide and driver will meet you and continue with the trip to Tikal. At the end of the tour they will connect you with our Belize driver and return to your lodge.
